About Recruitment

The Tamil Nadu Medical Services Recruitment Board (TNMRB) was set up to simplify the process of hiring medical and healthcare staff in the state.
TNMRB organizes exams, interviews, and other assessments to fill openings in various medical and healthcare departments across Tamil Nadu.
Presently, TNMRB is seeking applications for the role of Assistant Surgeon (General) on a temporary basis.
If selected, candidates must be willing to work in Government Medical Institutions for at least three years, excluding training, leave, or further education.

Salary

The selected candidate will receive a salary in accordance with Level 22 Rs. 56100-177500.

How to apply

Candidates must be citizens of India, or citizens of Nepal or Bhutan.
Candidates must possess a valid and active mobile number and email address. All communication from TNMRB will be sent via SMS to the registered mobile number and to the registered email address ONLY.
Interested candidates should first visit the Medical Services Recruitment Board’s website at www.mrb.tn.gov.in.
On the Home Page, click on “Online Registration” to access the Online Application Form.
Select the position of Assistant Surgeon (General).
Candidates are required to upload scanned copies of a color photograph and signature as per the provided guidelines for scanning and uploading.
It is important to note that all information provided in the online application, including the candidate's name, applied post, community category, date of birth, address, email address, etc., will be considered final, and no modifications will be allowed after the specified deadline for online application.
After completing the application, candidates must pay the fee online.
Upon successful transaction, a Registration Slip will be generated. Candidates are advised to print out the Registration Slip (a copy of the filled-in application form) for future reference.

Selection Procedure

Candidate selection will be based on the Tamil Language Eligibility Test and a Computer-Based Test.
The Tamil Language Eligibility Test will be at the 10th-grade level, with 50 marks, to be completed within 1 hour.
The computer-based test will be objective type, with 100 marks and a duration of 2 hours.
There will be no negative marking for incorrect answers, and no oral interview for the post.
Selection will be based on the marks obtained in the Computer-Based Test and additional marks awarded for services rendered during the Covid pandemic.
Shortlisted candidates will be called for verification of their original certificates as claimed in their online application form.
