- The UPSC conducts a diverse range of examinations, including the Civil Services Examination (CSE), Indian Forest Service Examination (IFoS), Engineering Services Examination (ESE), Combined Defence Services Examination (CDSE), and National Defence Academy Examination (NDA), among others.
- Currently, UPSC is accepting applications for the Indian Economic Service/Indian Statistical Service Examination 2024.

How to apply
- Eligibility requires candidates to hold Indian citizenship, with provisions also extended to individuals from Nepal and Bhutan.
- Candidates must complete their applications online through the website https://www.upsc.gov.in or via the provided link under "Apply link" in this document.
- It is imperative for applicants to first register themselves on the One-Time Registration (OTR) platform, accessible on the Commission’s website, before proceeding to fill out the online application for the examination.
- OTR registration needs to be completed only once in a lifetime and can be done at any time throughout the year.
- If the candidate is already registered, they can proceed directly to fill out the online application for the examination.
- Should a candidate wish to make any changes to their OTR profile, this can only be done once in their lifetime after registering on the OTR platform.
- The option to modify OTR profile data will be available until seven days after the closure of the application window for their first final application for any Commission examination, from 01/05/2024 to 07/05/2024.
- Candidates will not be permitted to withdraw their applications once submitted.
- Eligible candidates will receive an e-Admission Certificate on the last working day of the week preceding the examination date.
- The e-Admission Certificate will be accessible for download by candidates on the UPSC website https://www.upsconline.nic.in.
- All applicants must provide a valid and active email address while completing the Online Application Form, as the Commission may use electronic means to contact them.
- If a candidate does not receive their admission certificate or any other communication regarding their candidature for the examination three days before the examination begins, they should immediately contact the Commission.
- No candidate will be allowed to take the examination without holding an e-admission certificate.
- Candidates are strongly advised to retain a printout or soft copy of their online application for future reference.
- The selection procedure consists of two parts: Part-I Written Examination and Part-II Viva Voce (Interview).
- Part-I of the written examination carries 1000 marks with a duration of 18 hours for the Indian Economic Service and 1000 marks with a duration of 16 hours for the Indian Statistical Service.
- In Part-II, candidates will be interviewed by a board of competent and unbiased observers who will have access to a record of their career.
