About Recruitment

  • The State Health Society, Bihar, is inviting online applications from candidates for the position of 'Community Health Officer' under the National Health Mission.
  • This role involves leading the primary care provider team comprising female health workers, male health workers, ASHAs, etc., at Health Sub-Centres-Health & Wellness Centres (HSC-HWCs) to implement public health programs, ensuring comprehensive primary health care service delivery, including disease prevention and health promotion.
  • Each Community Health Officer (CHO) is entitled to a remuneration (honorarium) of Rs. 40,000/- per month. This includes Rs. 32,000/- per month as fixed remuneration and the remaining Rs. 8,000/- per month as Performance Linked Payment, calculated based on various health indices.
  • For comprehensive details regarding available job openings and their eligibility criteria, individuals are advised to refer to the official notification issued by the commission.
  • Candidates are required to serve as CHOs at Health Sub-Centres with the District Health Society (DHS) for a minimum period of 18 months from the date of appointment. Failure to do so will result in the candidate compensating a recoverable amount equivalent to 06 months of total remuneration, i.e., Rs. 2,40,000/- (Rupees Two Lakh Forty Thousand only). No transfer requests will be entertained during this 18-month period.
  • Candidates must furnish a Surety Bond of Rs. 2,40,000/- (Rupees Two Lakh Forty Thousand only) at the time of joining as Community Health Officer (CHO) with the respective District Health Society. This bond must be on Non-Judicial stamp paper of Rs. 1000/- (one thousand only) and state that the candidate will serve as CHO for a minimum period of 18 months. Failure to comply will result in the candidate paying the recoverable amount of Rs 2,40,000/- through a Demand Draft drawn in favor of "The Executive Director. State Health Society Bihar” and payable at Patna.
  • Successful candidates may be posted anywhere in Bihar based on vacancy and post requirements. Requests for posting in a specific district will not be entertained.

How to apply

  • Candidates who have previously served as CHO under the State Health Society, Bihar, or are currently employed as CHO in the state of Bihar under NHM are ineligible to apply.
  • Only online applications will be considered valid. Applications received through any other mode/source will not be accepted. Application forms with incomplete details will be rejected.
  • The institute/university from which the B.Sc./Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing/GNM course was completed must be recognized by the Indian Nursing Council/Health Department of any State Government/UT/Bihar Nurses Registration Council (BNRC)/Any State Nursing Council. Additionally, candidates must be registered with the Indian Nursing Council/Any State Nursing Council at the time of applying.
  • Shortlisted candidates will be required to present permanent registration from the Indian Nursing Council/Any State Nursing Council during the document verification process.
  • Upon final selection, candidates must provide Permanent registration from Bihar Nurses Registration Council (BNRC), Patna, within 90 days of joining as CHO.
  • Candidates who are not registered with the Bihar Nurses Registration Council (BNRC) but hold registration with another State's Nursing Council must submit an affidavit on Non-Judicial stamp paper of Rs.100/- at the time of joining as CHO at the concerned District Health Society (DHS). This affidavit should state that they will mandatorily submit their registration certificate from the Bihar Nurses Registration Council (BNRC) within 90 days of joining in their respective district.
  • If a candidate fails to produce the Bihar Nurses Registration Council (BNRC) registration certificate within 90 days of provisional joining, the continuation of their services will be subject to the decision of the State Health Society Bihar (SHSB).
